MBA is the common abbreviation used for Masters of Business Administration. While the term is commonly and loosely used, MBA degree is offered by only some institutes in the country. Others offer a post graduate diploma is management which is equivalent to an MBA but is not an MBA degree. However what needs to be carefully observed is that it hardly matters whether a B-school offers an MBA degree or a post graduate diploma because both almost mean the same. What needs to be taken into consideration while selecting a B-school is the credibility of the institute and its placement records. For a matter of fact, even the IIMs (Indian Institutes of Management) offer a post graduate diploma in business management but for ease the course is referred to as MBA.
